  1. Are donations to New Canaan Mounted Troop (NCMT) and the Building on Tradition Capital Campaign tax deductible?   Back to Top
    • NCMT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization. Our status as a non-profit organization means that all donations to NCMT and our capital campaign are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. NCMT will provide you with a receipt for your donation. Please consult your tax advisor to determine the tax benefit for your donation.

  2. If I want to donate to the Building on Tradition Capital Campaign, when can I make a donation pledge and when do I need to pay on my donation pledge?   Back to Top
    • NCMT is currently accepting donation pledges for the Building on Tradition Capital Campaign. You may make a donation pledge in 2005 and 2006. You may pay on your pledge—in installments, if you wish—throughout 2005 and 2006. Final payment on pledges is due December 31, 2006.

  3. What kinds of gifts will NCMT accept?   Back to Top
    • NCMT will accept gifts of cash, securities, and corporate matching gifts. You may send a cash gift by delivering a check to NCMT. If you would like to make a gift of securities, please contact Elizabeth Tobin, NCMT Treasurer, by phone at 203.966.2722 or by e-mail for more information. NCMT will also accept matching gifts from your employer. Please contact Elizabeth for questions about matching gifts.

  4. I have reviewed the naming rights table for the new facility. How much do I need to donate to obtain naming rights for portions of the new facility?   Back to Top
    • As a donor to the Building on Tradition Capital Campaign, you will receive a permanent display of your generous contribution. Donors of gifts under $2,500 will be recognized on plaques to be displayed in the Main Hall of the new facility. Here are three examples to illustrate donation requirements for naming portions of the new facility (please consult the naming rights table on your pledge form):

    • Example #1: Your donation is $7,500. You are eligible to name a large hand-painted tile (must donate at least $5,000) or a small hand-painted tile (must donate at least $2,500).

    • Example #2: Your donation is $15,000. You are eligible to name a horse stall (must donate at least $15,000), the blacksmith area (must donate at least $15,000), an office (must donate at least $10,000), a large hand-painted tile, or a small hand-painted tile.

    • Example #3: Your donation is $40,000. You are eligible to name a wash stall, the vet treatment area, the tack room, the feed room (all of which are available with donations of at least $25,000), a horse stall, the blacksmith area, an office, a large hand-painted tile, or a small hand-painted tile.

  5. Why is it important that I donate to the capital campaign even though my child or I may not be able to ride and work in the new facility?    Back to Top
    • Nearly ten years ago, many members of the NCMT community donated to our first capital campaign to purchase our property. If it were not for the support of these generous donors many years ago, NCMT would not be here today. Many of these donors no longer have children who ride at NCMT. But like you, they believed that NCMT truly touched the lives of their children and had an overwhelmingly positive effect.

    • We will begin building the new facility as soon as we can raise our goal of $3 million. The new facility will provide us with the ability to offer seminars and clinics, horse shows, and other events and programs open to your family—long after your child has graduated from NCMT.
