“The Equus Effect” is an equine-based, experiential learning program that helps people learn to regulate their nervous systems through purposeful engagement with horses. Although this program was originally developed for veterans experiencing PTSD, it has proven to be beneficial for everyone. These body-based, grounding exercises promote emotional agility, helping participants learn to respond, rather than react to emotions and in doing so, expand the potential for healthy relationships.
Our approach to experiential learning and coaching includes engagement with horses that focuses on the body’s natural response to chronic stress and trauma. We believe, as do experts in the field of neurobiology and trauma, that our reactions to traumatic events and chronic stress remain in the nervous system until they are metabolized and discharged. We focus on restoring nervous system regulation. It is a body-oriented model that helps people heal from the bottom up — and from the inside out.
